Dear friends/family,
So this is my inaugural blog post. I have been meaning to do this for some time but haven't pulled the trigger until now.
For those who don't know me personally, I thought I would give a little background info on how I ended up becoming a Peace Corps invitee. Upon graduating from the College of Charleston I was fortunate enough to land a job with some great researchers at UNC-Chapel Hill. Much of the research conducted consisted of developing educational interventions for low literacy patients suffering from chronic illness(i.e. diabetes, CHF, COPD). The skills I learned in this capacity as a research assistant fueled my desire to make a positive difference in the lives of those in need.
Feeling the need to expand on my experience at UNC, I filled out an application for the Peace Corps in September of 2009 and quickly started making my way towards becoming an invitee. After some time, I received news that I was invited to serve in Guatemala! As you can see I accepted this invitation and couldn't be more pleased. From what I have read and heard, Guatemala is a beautiful country with a welcoming population of people. I can't wait to arrive in country and meet some Guatemala nationals! I will be moving to Guatemala in less than two weeks! April 28 to be exact.
I have much more to say but I want to save a few of my thoughts for next time.
Thanks for taking a gander at my blog.... if you are out there.
Very best,
Zachary Warner
